The El Campello City Council hosts the AVAF conference “Integrity, public ethics and fraud prevention in local administration”

The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency has visited the Alacantí region again, with the aim of collaborating in the training of Valencian local administrations.

Public employee personnel from the municipalities of El Campello, Sant Joan d’Alacant, Gata de Gorgos, Elda, Elche and Murcia have actively participated in the day given by the AVAF Training Service. The institutional welcome was given by Juanjo Berenguer, mayor of El Campello.

The four-hour day focused on the promotion of ethics and public integrity, as well as the prevention and detection of risks of fraud and corruption in local administration.

The attendees, 40 people (public employees and elected officials), had the opportunity to get closer to the Valencian regulatory and institutional framework regarding the fight against corruption in the intervention of Anselm Bodoque, head of the AVAF Training Service.

Pilar Moreno, training technician at the Agency, focused on the catalog of integrity risks in decision-making in the daily management of the local administration. The use of gamification tools made it possible to know that the risk that public employees believe should be taken more into account is the lack of planning in the daily management of the administration.

The developments and obligations entailed by the new state regulations regarding the protection of reporters of regulatory infractions, Law 2/2023, were presented by Marita Oliver, technician from the Training service of the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency.

The importance of proper management of the conflict of interest was discussed in the participatory workshop that closed the training day. The possibility of presentation of communications by natural and legal persons, as well as the difference between conflict of interest and corruption focused some of the participants’ participation in the session.

The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency, with this new training, maintains its training presence in the province of Alicante. The Training Service appreciates the collaboration of the El Campello council in organizing the day.
