Local Vision and Preventive Approach: AVAF with the Barcelona Provincial Council at OGW 2025
Valencia, May 21, 2025.- The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency participated in the 2025 Open Government Week as part of the round table “I’ve received an alert, now what? Recommendations and reflections on experiences in managing alerts”, organized by the Barcelona Provincial Council.
Pilar Moreno, senior training officer from the AVAF’s Training, Participation, Communication, and Relations with Other Entities Department, provided the perspective of small and medium-sized local entities in managing information received through the internal reporting system regulated by Law 2/2023, on the protection of whistleblowers and the fight against corruption.
The session was facilitated by the Area of Municipal Support in Open Government and Good Governance of the Barcelona Provincial Council and also featured contributions from Àlex Madariaga, head of the Whistleblower Protection Unit of the Catalan Anti-Fraud Office, and Rosa Maria Sánchez, Director of Analysis Services of the Barcelona City Council.
The activity is part of the Open Government Week (OGW), a global initiative promoted by the Open Government Partnership, which fosters a culture of transparency, integrity, civic participation, the promotion of fundamental rights, and accountability, shared between citizens and public administrations.
The Open Government Week is held annually with the goal of bringing institutions closer to citizens through events and activities that highlight the values of open government.
