The collaboration between UNISOCIETAT and the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency returns in 2022
#TrainingAVAF
“The fight against corruption” was the conference given by the Professor of Criminal Law, José Luis González Cussac, in the first of the sessions held in 2022 within the UNISOCIETAT program in collaboration with the AVAF.
Last Thursday, February 24, Riba-roja de Túria hosted this conference where Professor González Cussac highlighted the work of the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency, stating that “thanks to the AVAF we are a benchmark in measures to prevent corrupt conduct” The session highlighted that corruption has been a historical constant, with a multiplicity of causes, factors and authors.
Defined by González Cussac as “the abuse of power or incorrectness in the decision-making process in exchange for an undue incentive or advantage”, corruption “is not a crime without victims”, since the main victims of these behaviors are society in general and the most vulnerable groups more intensely.
The work of the Agency in terms of social awareness in collective ethics and the eradication of fraud and corruption materialized in the presentation of the Professor of Criminal Law, actively followed by 17 people, who carried out multiple questions at the end of the conference.
The independence of the judiciary and the lack of resources that the courts lack to prosecute crimes related to fraud and corruption were some of the issues raised by the attendees.
The fact that corruption threatens the stability of the West and undermines the democratic rule of law was the final conclusion of the first of the UNISOCIETAT conferences in which AVAF has participated in 2022.
The next session of the program in which the Valencian Antifraud Agency will collaborate will take place in Ontinyent on Thursday, April 7.
In collaboration with the Vice President for Territorial Projection and Society of the University of Valencia, the AVAF is carrying out training activities on the prevention of fraud and corruption. Among those that stand out are the specific conferences aimed at public employees, university students and citizens in general, as well as the UNISOCIETAT conferences. All this, with the aim of bringing the culture of integrity closer to the students of the program of the University of Valencia.
