Alacant, april 1, 2025.- More than 195 university students of the 1st year of Criminology and the double degree in Law and Criminology of the University of Alicante participated last Tuesday, April 1, in the four editions of DocuforumAVAF, a training activity focused on public integrity and the prevention of corruption.
Thanks to the collaboration of the teaching staff of the Department of State legal studies, Katia Esteve and Manuel Menéndez, the students were able to learn first-hand about the testimonies of corruption whistleblowers and analyse the obligations established by Law 2/2023 for all public administrations in terms of whistleblower protection.
Throughout the four sessions held during the day, Pilar Moreno, technician of the Area of Training, Participation, Communication and Relations with other Entities of the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency (AVAF), presented the initiatives promoted by the Agency to promote the culture of information and the protection of whistleblowers.
The activity aroused great interest among the students and constitutes a new step in the work of raising awareness of the AVAF among the younger population. According to the study “Comparative perceptions of corruption in Spain and Portugal” prepared by the Agency, people under 34 years of age are the least aware of the work of the AVAF, so actions like this are key to bringing public integrity closer to the new generations.
