On October 28, Joan Llinares, director of the AVAF, gave the conference “The role of anti-fraud agencies in the fight against corruption and for integrity” within the framework of the Workshop Institutions and governance after the pandemic: International perspectives organized by the Jaume I University of Castellón and the Interuniversity Institute of Local Development, which has been coordinated by the Professor of Economics Emili Tortosa-Ausina

The director of the Agency highlighted, in his speech, the value of the work of anti-corruption offices and agencies in the field of prevention and training in integrity and public ethics. Similarly, he explained the basic lines of the AVAF strategy to fight fraud and corruption in the Valencian Community.

The subsequent debate focused on the protection mechanisms of the alerters, prevention, the protocols that are followed in matters of investigation, paying special attention to the alerts received in the complaints mailbox of the Valencian Antifraud Agency.

Academics from various Spanish and Portuguese universities participated in the Workshop, as well as Monika Bauhr, researcher from the Institute of Democratic Quality of the University of Gothenburg, who showed a special interest in reducing the perception of corruption as a problem in the Valencian Community.

The conferences were organized by the Department of Tranparencia, Social Responsibility, Participation and Cooperation of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Institut Interuniversitari de Desenvolupament Local (section of the Jaume I University), the Càtedra Ciutat de Castelló and the Spanish Association of Regional Science (section Valencian).

The activities of the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency in the universities of the Valencian Community are being very active at the beginning of the academic year, this being the fifth in less than a month.

The last docufòrum took place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, with the attendance of 81 students from the subject of Skills and Skills of the Degree in Criminology.

Having seen the documentary “Corruption: Harmful Organism”, the students’ questions focused on the origin and causes of corruption, its effect and costs, the perception of corruption in our society and with respect to other neighboring countries , what to do in cases of corruption. In the same debate, he took the opportunity to talk about public ethics and integrity, as well as prevention and civic education. The regulatory framework, specific functions and scope of competence of the Agency were explained.

In the debate, the students especially insisted on the protection of the whistleblowers and on the guarantees of maintaining the anonymity of the whistleblowers.

The activity has been organized in collaboration with the University of Valencia, which we thank for its interest and willingness to help create a culture of public integrity and rejection of fraud and corruption.

UNISOCIETAT Cullera knows the importance of the European Social Charter

The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency, in collaboration with the Vice-Rector’s Office for Territorial Action and Society of the University of Valencia, carries out training activities in the prevention of fraud and corruption in public life throughout the Valencian territory.

On October 26, Carmen Salcedo Beltrán, Professor of Labor Law at the University of Valencia, addressed the importance of the European Social Charter as an instrument to carry out a fair recovery and with public integrity.

At the conference entitled “Social Rights and COVID19”, the value of the ratification by Spain of the revised version of the European Social Charter together with the Collective Claims Protocol, a ratification that had been claimed for more than two years, was underlined decades.

The European Social Charter is the European Treaty par excellence of social rights and the most expeditious guarantee system of all those existing in the framework of social rights in all spheres and levels of government. The exhibition was actively followed by 25 people, who asked multiple questions at the end of the conference.

AVAF’s participation in the Unisocietat conference is based on the collaboration agreement between the Agency and the University of Valencia with the aim of raising social awareness on collective ethics and the prevention of fraud and corruption.
