Seville, 19 October 2026.- The Valencian Agency for the Prevention and Fight against Fraud and Corruption (AVAF) took part in the First Conference on Public Integrity and Good Governance, held in Seville on 19 October 2026 and organised by the Public Employees Department of Seville Provincial Council through its Anti-Fraud Committee.
The Agency was represented by Jorge Ciganda Teruel, senior prevention officer at AVAF, who participated in the round-table discussion “Regional models for fraud prevention”, alongside José María Martínez García, adviser for Analysis and Institutional Relations at the Andalusian Anti-Fraud Office. The session was moderated by Alejandro Talavera Gallego, chair of Seville Provincial Council’s Anti-Fraud Committee.
The round table provided a forum for exchanging experiences concerning regional models and institutional tools for addressing fraud prevention and the fight against corruption. AVAF’s participation, as an institution with extensive accumulated experience, brought the perspective of the mechanisms that help consolidate integrity in public management, focused on the public interest at regional level and guided by the primary obligation to prevent fraud.
The conference brought together specialists from regional and national bodies to analyse the main challenges relating to transparency, fraud prevention and the fight against corruption, with particular attention to the specific characteristics of local government and the implementation of a culture of integrity in public institutions. The closing address, “Public integrity as the foundation of good governance”, was delivered by Rafael Jiménez Asensio, institutional consultant and professor at the University of the Basque Country.
Seville Provincial Council’s initiative highlights the importance of incorporating public integrity and fraud prevention into public administration training programmes. Through its participation in this conference, AVAF contributes to the exchange of good practices between institutions and to promoting a culture of integrity that strengthens citizens’ trust in public administrations.
