The town councils of Quart de Poblet and Mislata have carried out the first training action on integrity and public ethics promoted in a coordinated manner by two town councils jointly and taught by the Agency for the Prevention and Fight against Fraud and Corruption of the Valencian Community (AVAF).
The Assembly Hall of the Quart de Poblet House of Culture hosted the event on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, and the institutional welcome was given by the mayor of Quart de Poblet, Cristina Mora, who highlighted “the importance of ethics professional of all people with public responsibility” and thanked the presence and work of the AVAF.
The more than 60 public employees of both municipalities had the opportunity to learn about the Spanish and Valencian regulatory and institutional framework regarding the fight against corruption, as well as the developments and obligations that the new state regulations entail regarding the protection of informants. of regulatory violations, Law 2/2023.
During the day, public policies on corruption were addressed by Anselm Bodoque, head of the AVAF Training Service. Pilar Moreno, training technician, focused on promoting the culture of public integrity and preventing risks in decision-making in the local administration. While Marita Oliver, Training technician, highlighted the detection, correction and prosecution phases of the anti-corruption cycle.
The workshop-debate on conflicts of interest, in which gamification tools were used to enhance the participation of attendees, warned that inadequate management of the conflict of interest situation can lead to corruption and Reading and consulting the Agency’s recommendations on this and other matters was recommended.
The lack of planning was also highlighted as the risk warned by the participants in the conference that should be considered the most in public management in the local administration.
