The Valencian Antifraud Agency will participate in the 2021 International Transparency Congress

Valencia, September 8, 2021.- The VI edition of the International Transparency Congress will be held between September 27 and 29. In last year’s edition it had to be held only online due to the situation caused by the coronavirus crisis, but this year the organization has also wanted to promote the face-to-face modality so that it will be possible to participate in the congress in both modalities.

The VI International Congress on Transparency will serve as a space for the exchange of experiences and research related to the field of transparency, as well as related topics, such as accountability, public integrity, participation, regulation of lobbies and the fight against misinformation.

The Congress will be inaugurated by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig i Ferrer, the rector of the University of Alicante, Amparo Navarro Faure, and the president of the Council for Transparency and Good Governance of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez.

It will consist of round tables, conferences and working groups.

Also within the framework of this congress, the VIII Meeting of the State Network of Anti-Fraud Agencies and Offices will be held, which will make an institutional statement as well as a workshop on the transposition of the European Directive for the Protection of Complainants as a key opportunity in our country for the creation of a national anti-corruption strategy.

The Congress already has more than 600 registered people from more than 21 countries (Spain, Mexico, Brazil, among others). The registration period will be open until September 20 and this can be done through the event website. In the CIT 2021, more than 180 papers will also be presented in 22 working groups that will address important issues, such as transparent language, public procurement and the evaluation of transparency, among other topics.

Participation of the AVAF in the course “Diploma in Government and Public Innovation” held in the municipality of San Luis Potosí in Mexico

On August 18, 2021, in one of the sessions of the “Diploma in Government and Public Innovation” course of the Trivium Institute, aimed at public employees of the regional government in the area of education, which was held in the municipality of San Luis Potosí in Mexico, the AVAF was invited to participate in a colloquium on public innovation and open government, “La Agencia Valenciana Antifraude. Open government and innovation” by Pilar Moreno, a training technician at the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency.

The task carried out by the agency within the Valencian Community was made known and the debate on the subject of open government and innovation was participated in. The session lasted 1 hour, in online format, with all participants online (students and speakers) by videoconference. The interest of the students has focused on the real application of the SDGs by civil society and public employees, participants in the session, have expressed the importance of the work of the AVAF. The number of attendees was 40 students, 100% of those enrolled in the course, with a participation percentage of 52.5% of women and 47.5% of men.

The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency signs the Utrecht Declaration together with 26 European anti-fraud agencies

València, July 21, 2021.- The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency is one of the signatory authorities of the Utrecht Declaration, which has been agreed upon after the work carried out within the Network of European Authorities for Integrity and Reporting Irregularities (NEIWA Network ) of which 26 public authorities representing 22 European States are part.
With the Utrecht Declaration, the Neiwa Network urges the Member States to put into operation the necessary tools for the protection of those who report fraud and corruption, bearing in mind that the two-year deadline for transposition into the National legal systems of European Directive 1937/2019 on the protection of persons who report infringements of Union law.
The Utrecht Declaration is the result of the work carried out during the last six months by the NEIWA Network, of which the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency is a part, which represents the Spanish State together with the Calalunya Anti-Fraud Office, as it does not exist in Spain. a national anti-fraud and corruption authority.
This Declaration reinforces the work of anti-fraud agencies by guaranteeing external reporting channels in which the confidentiality of the reporting persons must be respected, as well as the content of the events reported and the investigations through effective procedures and without leaks that prevent its good end. Confidentiality is essential in a reporting system that offers guarantees.
This Declaration also recommends that Member States ensure the protection of anti-fraud agencies and offices by providing them with the necessary resources to be able to carry out their functions, while safeguarding their independence and autonomy.
