València. July 13, 2021. The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the Valencian Antifraud Agency will collaborate to promote actions of a cultural, educational and scientific nature in the field of the fight against fraud. José E. Capilla, rector of the UPV and Joan Llinares, director of the Agency for the Prevention and Fight against Fraud and Corruption of the Valencian Community, today signed the collaboration agreement between the two entities, at the UPV.
Among the activities provided for in the agreement are collaboration and technical assistance in the field of new technologies; the realization of formative practices in dependencies of the Valencian Antifraud Agency on the part of students of the UPV; the promotion of investigation in the field of the fight against fraud; the joint realization of cultural, educational, editorial and scientific activities; reciprocal access to bibliographic and documentation funds; the reciprocal use of facilities and all those activities of mutual interest within the objectives of the agreement.
Responsible for the different areas of the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency, the University Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics of the UPV (IUMPA) and the Chair of Transparency and Participation of the Polytechnic University of Valencia were present at the meeting.
José E. Capilla, rector of the UPV, has declared that this is an important step to expand a collaboration that already existed between the two institutions, especially in consulting and data analysis and in training public administration personnel. The rector has stressed the importance of professional ethics and its incorporation into higher education: “Training and ethics are directly related to fraud prevention and therefore it is key that university students, future professionals, have access to to this knowledge ”.
Joan Llinares, director of the Valencian Antifraud Agency, has declared that this agreement with the UPV is the embodiment of one of the main functions entrusted to the Agency, such as prevention and training in the fight against fraud and corruption: “The activities that are going to be carried out and that are included in this collaborative framework will undoubtedly contribute to the creation of public ethics and integrity,” he said.
The agreement responds to the interests of both institutions: by the Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency, because it contributes to its objective of creating a social culture of rejection of corruption, in coordination with other public or private organizations; with regard to the UPV, because it advances in its purposes of transfer and exchange of knowledge, technological development and innovation in all branches of knowledge. The collaboration agreement between the two entities is valid for four years, extendable for another four.
